A Familiarity of Construction Working Life (Practical Training)

Last May 2012, the writer has been given the occasion to be a practical trainee in one of the contractor companies. The five-month-period practical training has been accomplished at RBS Engineering Sdn. Bhd. The purpose of practical training is as one of the requisites in order to obtain Diploma in Building. Alhamdulillah everything was as smooth as silk and the writer has been successfully finished the practical training in October 2012.

There were lots of experiences gained from the beneficial training. The undergrads can get to know the real life in construction work. The writer would like to express his gratitude to those who helped a lot during his practical training. Only Allah can bless their collaboration.

Yours faithfully,
Mohiz M. Faiz

Happy Mother's Day (2012)

In Malaysia, every second Sunday of May, do you know what that day is? It is Mother's Day. So, in this opportunity, I would like to wish my beloved Mama, "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY"!!! You are a great mother/woman to me. To be a mother, is not an easy task. It is a responsibility. I know Mama had gone through and faced many challenges in her life, as a mother as well as a human-being. All I can say or do is to always pray to Allah S.W.T. that Mama will always be given strength and bless from Allah for whatever she did, does and will do. I will never forget your good offices and I will always love you, Mama. (^_^) I don't know what to give to her. So, I've made this greeting e-card for her.

Hope you like it, Mama.

Yours faithfully,
Mohiz M. Faiz

Diploma in Building: An Overview

"What am I studying?"
That is a common question asked to me. Actually, I am now studying Diploma in Building at the MARA University of Technology (UiTM) Perak.

"What you do in your programme?"That is the other common question asked. Here, I would like to share an overview about Diploma in Building.

Diploma in Building, is a three-year programme, which includes a six-month practical training (during semester 5).  This programme aimed to produce semi-professionals with sound knowledge in construction technology, and contruction management. It is a programme under Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Surveying.

This programme is authorized by the Chartered Institute of Building UK at Level 1, and is distinguished by the Public Services Department of Malaysia.

With this programme, the graduates have the occasion to be employed in public sector as technical assistants, and in private sector as site supervisors, construction programme planners/schedulers, technical teachers and assistant quantity surveyors for building and infrastructure work.

Yours faithfully,

Break A Sweat: Dance To Be Fit

So, what you guys are up to when it comes for you to break a sweat? In my point of view, one of the best ways is dancing. It may sound odd, but it is surely enjoying, plus it makes us sweat and lose weight. Try it! Throw up your favourite pop song, and start dancing. (^_^) You will enjoy it.

Shopaholic... Am I?

Nowadays, I perceived that I really love shopping and frittering my savings just in order to purchase things that I covet instead of what I necessitate. Am I a shopaholic? Oh no!!! Please, don't! Hahak!

What is shopaholic, anyway? Shopaholic, in other word is 'compulsive buying disorder'. In point of fact, this kind of etiquette is not good. It is wasting of money. If you go to shopping mall, just get a hold of what you want in its place of getting a hold of what you want. Sometimes, you don't really need it. Am I right? Hehe.

However, as for me, shopping is one of my leisure pursuits. In my point of view, it is quite okay if you go shopping, just in order to spend times together with your loved ones, or just for relaxation. But please go easy with it. Don't overspend because it will surely give you certain side upshots. (^_^)

Any tips in overcoming this etiquette? Hahak! Maybe before you go to a shopping, don't bring too much cash. It will cost you a lot if you bring a load of it.

Noob Chef: Fried Fettuccine... in the making

It has been a quite long time since I last cooked. Today, I made my beloved mama's favourite recipe of mine which is fried fettuccine. What is fettuccine? It is a kind of pasta, which looks like mee sanggul.

The very first thing is, prepare all the ingredients. The ingredients may vary, but it's up to you all, guys. Those ingredients include (according to my recipe):

  • Fettuccine
  • Chicken breast (sliced)
  • Prawn
  • Carrot (sliced into cubes)
  • Capsicum (cut into cubes)
  • Onions (diced)
  • Garlic
  • Baby corns
  • Cauliflower
  • Broccoli
  • Tomato paste (I blended it with chilli)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Soy sauce
  • Black pepper (coarse) - if you like it hot
  • Cooking oil (I prefer corn oil - more healthy)

Methods:-
  1. Cook the fettuccine in a boiling water until it is soft. Add in some oil (to prevent it from sticking to each other) and season it with a little bit of salt (don't put too much as you might season it again during frying).
  2. Heat the wok with cooking oil, and fry garlic and onions, until golden brown or until you can smell it.
  3. Add in the tomato paste.
  4. Add in the chicken first, then only prawn. Don't cook the prawn too long as it will make the prawn hardened.
  5. Add in the vegetables as mentioned above, stir until cooked.
  6. Season it with salt, to taste.
  7. Pour the fettuccine noodles into the wok, add in soy sauce and some black pepper.
  8. Stir fry until dry.
  9. Dish out, and serve out.

Tadaaa! Hahak! Does it look delectable? To me, it does. :P But, please be informed that the ingredients are up to you and your taste. I can't give you the precise portion.

Bon apetit, guys!!! (~_^) Don't forget to say basmalah and recite the prayer before eating.

Growing Stronger

In this humankind, we are for eternity confronted with lots of challenges with many sort. As for me, I always take it as a part of life. This is for the reason that at times though it will contribute to our horrific frame of mind; it will as well make us more sturdy and well-built. Thus, don’t ever be nagged of it. It is all Allah’s wants and we must face it with our willingness and insya-Allah, He will help us in overcoming it. And never ever forget to pray to Allah S.W.T.
